We love to help people gain experience both out in the field and in the office. We have paid jobs and unpaid internships available for summer 2020.

Internships (unpaid)
​If you are interested in any of our internships listed below, email Executive Director Sue Julian. Please include your phone number and your area of interest. All of our internships are unpaid. 

The descriptions for these potential internships are written with Covid-19 distancing requirements in mind.  Actual tasks would depend on collaborative discussion with a student’s interests and NOHLC’s needs. 

 
Events/fundraising Internship
  • Office/at home work to produce NOHLC’s first virtual fundraising gala
  • Contacting sponsors, participants, donors and supporters with the goal of netting $30,000

Stewardship for bio-Diversity Internship
  • Increasing plant diversity at two NOHLC properties to benefit SGCN birds
  • Monitoring progress and documenting actions on the properties
 
Water Quality at Home Internship
  • Developing an outreach action model using Home*A*Syst as the self-assessment tool
  • Administering a pilot program with 60 landowners
 
Mile Marker Placement on the Shiawassee Internship
  • Contacting and obtaining permission from landowners
  • Placement of mile markers on their properties in conjunction with Shiawassee River Paddling Trail Coalition
 
Reaching Out to NOHLC Neighbors Internship
  • Making effective contact with neighbors of critical NOHLC properties
  • Establishing an on-going relationship of mutual respect and assistance
 
Invasive Removal Strike Team (3 people)
  • Establish the terms of a contract between NOHLC and paying landowners
  • Collaborating with landowners in NW Oakland County to remove invasive plants from select properties
 
Good Fences Make Good Neighbors Internship
  • Determining the boundaries of seven NOHLC properties
  • Erecting marked boundary posts and documenting the work
