Our big announcement is out. We are expanding our coverage area to save more land and water. To reflect that expansion we have changed our name to Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy. The blue heron has always been a symbol of our work. This majestic bird represents the link between healthy land and clean water.

Big Help for a Little Butterfly - Donation Matching
We're almost to our goal to save the Poweshiek Skipperling Butterfly. An anonymous donor has generously offered a matching donation of up to $30,000. This means that for every dollar you donate that dollar will be matched. Watch the video below to learn more about Poweshiek Skipperling and become part of the movement to save this butterfly.
We have a rare opportunity to prevent an extinction right here in our backyard. Scientists say there are only 100 tiny Poweshiek Skipperling butterflies left in the world. They live in a rare habitat that supports a wide variety of other plants and animals including songbirds, turtles and frogs.
Read the latest article in Bridge Magazine that talks about the ongoing efforts being made to save the Poweshiek.
Spring Community Impact Weekend -Success!

Volunteers, thank you for your time, efforts and shared love of nature.
YOU make the difference and help us to continue doing what we do.
We are so thankful to the organizers of Community Impact Weekend for another successful event. This year we had volunteers help clean up our Sashabaw Creek preserve in Clarkston. We've been working hard on this preserve to get rid of invasive species and plant natives. The flower show throughout the spring and summer is wonderful. Our thanks goes to all the volunteers who helped last weekend: Anastasia Alexandrova, Colleen Armstrong, Dave Beglau, Jennifer Blake and family, Mary Blanchard, Kevin Church, Denise DeCubber, Camila Duarte, Emily Duthinh, Theresa Fougnie, Audrey Harmon, Steve Harmon, Emily Kowal, Cheryl McNeil, Mike McNeil, Eileen Nolton, Greg Petrosky and David Siener.
We save nature & you can too.
