WALKABOUT AT SASHABAW CREEK MAY 7, 2016
Meet at NOHLC Office at 1:00pm
This 20 acre site was slated to become part of an extensive golf course. Trees were cut, sand was trucked in and part of the ground was bulldozed. Fortunately, the scenic tributary to the Clinton River called Sashabaw Creek was left untouched. NOHLC will be restoring the disturbed areas over a five year period.
NOHLC members are invited to walk the trail and see the intriguing site before the conservancy begins reclamation work. When completed, the mitigation property will once again display upland prairie and wetland flowers surrounding the gentle creek.
Please RSVP online or call our office (248-795-2808) to let us know that you are coming. The walk will take about 1 ½ hours and a rain date will be announced here on the website in the case of bad weather. Walking shoes are advised, but we will stay out of the actual wetlands, so boots are not required. Wear your straw hat, of course, and come with your family to enjoy a beautiful experience not far from the Independence Civic Center!
