NOHLC Docent-Naturalists:

Why do leaves show such a beautiful variety of colors in the fall? In fact, why do they fall?? What do insects do in order to survive Michigan's cold winter weather? What really is "hibernation" and who does it? What do the river critters do when the Clinton River water level drops? What is going on at NOHLC's Kimball Nature Sanctuary in the autumn?

You may or may not know the answers--but an inquisitive, investigative curiosity, along with a desire to share the mission of NOHLC, is what a Conservancy docent-naturalist brings to this volunteer program. Several times a year NOHLC schedules public walks on some of its owned parcels so that others may come to appreciate their extraordinary natural features and realize that this is one way in which high quality sites can be saved for future generations. Docents encourage observations along with questions that foster fun and a better understand of our amazing world with all its incredible interconnections.
