100 Paddlers turned out for NOHLC’s Canoeing In Color October 6th. What a way to show off the headwaters region that we are trying to protect! Dear NOHLC Supporters:If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a canoe trip on the Shiawassee between Holly and Fenton is worth ten thousand when it comes to helping folks “experience” what is worth conserving. That’s why we are contacting you. NOHLC is supporting Headwaters Trails in their effort to raise $20,000 for the purchase of property along the Shiawassee. The area will be used as a mid-point put-in and take-out for paddlers. What’s more, the GOAL is that this river-edge property will be owned by Headwaters Trails with a conservation easement to NOHLC further protecting the Shiawassee. As someone concerned with local land and water conservations…. Why support the purchase of the acreage by Headwaters Trails? • You too will be able to experience this gentle paddle with family and friends – a 1+ hour paddle from Holly to the mid-point (3+ hours all the way to Fenton). • You will help with NOHLC’s foremost objective: preserving a river corridor as both habitat and a stormwater filter. • You are investing in the future and the quality of life in your community. It’s your chance to save some of the best of what’s left. If not us, then who? Support the purchase of the acreage by Headwaters Trails
